Yeh Aam Nahi Khaas Hai!

Summers! Hmm, how best to describe it? Let me try the scorching sun, summer vacations, IPL, ice-creams, and MANGOS! Indian summers without mangos would be that as bland as Holi without “Thandai”. Go to any Indian household during summer and you will surely find mangos of various shapes and sizes, with each having their own distinctive aroma and taste.

If summer had a specific flavour, then it would be the sweet taste of the pulpy mangos. The small strand of mango juice that slowly slithers down your arm when you take a succulent bite and you gulp that strand just in time so that it does not fall on the ground. After all, mango or aam (in Hindi), is the king of fruits, and every drop of it should be given royal treatment.

The regal taste of the succulent mangos can be enjoyed in various ways. One can enjoy the mellow flavour of mango while chomping on the freshly cut slivers of the fruit or enjoy the serenading taste of Annapurna Group’s Fundaaz Mango drink made from the pulpiest picks from nature’s baskets.

The sight of a tumbler filled up to the brim with yellow-glistening Fundaaz mango juice on a sweltering day, with beads of condensation slowly trickling down the surface of the tumbler, is enough to create a craving so strong that one would just gulp down the entire drink in a single go. The richness of India’s food palate is so diverse that each region has given its own twist to mango juice. Mango juice and the traditional lassi are reincarnated as the mango lassi from the serpentine by-lanes of UP, giving it a fresh and frothy twist to an eternal summer drink, or the velvety texture of “Mango Mastaani” that can be best enjoyed on a lazy afternoon on the back roads of Pune.

However, those who want to enjoy aam in its purest form would relish the unadulterated mango juice extracted from the mango pulp. A serenading taste of freshly squeezed mango juice without any added sweetener or preservatives creates an illusion of having the golden nectars of heaven, a perfect relief from the sweltering heat and humidity. A simple enough recipe can be given an exotic twist by adding various condiments and syrups such as rosewater, honey, or other fruit syrups. Or the indigenous mango juice can be given a middle-eastern twist by adding nuts and dates. All you need now is to add a couple of ice cubes and enjoy it while watching your favourite show or while unwinding with your friends and family on a scorching day.

Aside from the luscious taste, mango juice is equally beneficial for your health. Mango pulps in mango juice provide enough fibre to aid digestion and prevent acidity. Fundaaz Mango, a mouth-watering refreshment, is also a rich source of Vitamin A and C, which boost immunity, improve eye sight and anaemia. So next time you chug a pitcher of this gleaming elixir, help yourself with a couple of more pints, because where else would you get the combination of nourishment and yummy taste?

The seasonality of mangos used to be a major mood dampener for food lovers like us who had to wait a year to get our hands on ripe mangos. But modern technological marvels have made it possible to enjoy mango juice in any season without any reason.

Fundaaz Mango Juice, presented by the Annapurna Group, delivers the nutrients and vitamins of freshly harvested mango and yet savours the sweet indulgence. So, sit back and enjoy the heavenly dew day in and day out with your right to purity, because Yeh Aam Nahi Khaas Hai!
